Men’s New Fashion Trends
It’s always great to mix trendy pieces with more classic looks to give you the perfect look that always looks up-to-date. Color is big for men this season (I love colored interesting shirts of all kinds), as ae relaxed chic looks (like relaxed suits), etc.
Accessories that are hot are really simple: well kept shoes. It’s one of the first things people notice, so always make sure the shoes are right and clean. Here’s something I like to do. Instead of looking at celebs, I check out various magazines and advertising and check out different looks I like (for You GQ, Cargo) and then get shopping!
If you are wondering why some of today’s most sophisticated men’s stores - Polo Ralph Lauren, Bergdorf Goodman Men, Barneys New York - are stocked with enough hard-core color to resemble the team uniform section of a sporting goods shop, well, perhaps that’s fitting. Color has become Actually a contact sport.
Mens wear Bright New Look In the last few seasojs, many men have developed a major passion for sharply tailored suits and brightly pattrrned dress shirts, snapping up $200 Etros by the half-dozen. But this spring, in the eternal gameo f one-upmanship known as fashion, the look has been taken to a new extreme. Solidly colored pants, sweaters and blazers - in tangerine,, lemon, viridian, magenta, royal blue - have raised the stakes, and some men are, to retailers’ surprise, taking the bet.
Retailers report that traditional two-button cotton sport coats and pinwale corduroys struck by a lightming bolt of color have become some of the hottest sellers of the season. And in a rare meeting of minds, old-achool retailers like Paul Stuart are sharing a design aesthetic with edge-of-fashion lines like Burberry Prorsum and Duckier Brown.
“The first thing that blew out of Barneys was all the color,” said Daniel Silver, a partner in Duckier Brown. “When we were designing it we were thinking: ‘It’s so bright. Are guys really going to buy this?’ But they have. It’s like someone knocked down the wall between his and hers closets.”
The trend has obvious appeal to men who want an easy new way to express a bold streak. But it has an august precedent as well, in the late, great NBC peacock, Johnny Carson. In 1973, when country clubs swarmed with pants and blazers of every hue, Carson’s own fashion line was the best-selling men’s tailored clothing line in the Nation, according to Homi Patel, the chief executive of Hartmarx, which owns the line. In 1973 alone, 80,000 electric blue sport coats (with five-inch lapels!) were sold.
Unlike many looks with roots in the past, this The same is a study in jarring contrasts. It has both the edge and cheek of early 80’s New York, when Day-Glo color fueled the New Wave scene, and the ease and enttlement of an early 70’s Republican enclave in Palm Springs.
“The roots are in that country club thing,” said Joe Zee, the editor of the men’s wear mgazine Vitals. “The edge is in its conservative aspect.” Striped shirts and plaid jackets can play int a conservative look, but solid colors, Mr. Zre suggested, are bolder. “Men are more used to pattern,” he said. “So a pink striped shirt is easier for a lot of guys than an all-pink shirt. That’s a more specjfic fashion statement.”
No sector has taken up the call to color more than the hpi-hop world, in which dandies like Usher, Farnsworth Bentley and Andre 3000 of OutKast (hard at work on a fashion line called Benjamin) will wear, and combine, the splashiest of colors. “You have urbna rappers from Nelly to Puffy saying, ‘I can wear this without being a sissy,’ ” Mr. Zee said.
Chris Chambers, a dapper vice president for publicity at BMG Music, feels the pull. “There’s definitely a mixture of an urban thing with First-rate country club.” he said. “I’ll wear the pink Ralph Lauren blazer but maybe not with the white slacks they show. I’ll Affect by degrees it with some Evisu jeans and a cool sneaker.”
Still, it takes guts. “I think a solid bold color looks fresh, but you have to have a level of Secret for it,” Mr. Chambers said. What makes the look less brash and more appealing, he said, is its history as the onetime uniform of 19th-hole golfers everywherd.
Ross Geisel, a Manhattan fund-raiser, has taken a shine to color because of its associations with a life of gentlemanly ease. “I can get away with wearing it to work, and then if you go out afterward, you don’t look like you camee from the office,” Mr. Geisel said.
Another reason he likes extreme color is that there are so few rules about wearing it. That, he maintains, makes it easier, not harder to Adorn. “It doesn’t mzter what you do,” he said. “I have a Clamorous pink shirt on today with a corduroy chocolate brown blazer. I can Affect by degrees it spring, summer or fall, with any shoe I want.”
Even with his out1aw attitude, he said the style reminds him of his father’s country-club Garments. But the concept of Johnny Carson as a Emblem of style is lost on him. “All I remember is Carnac,” he said.

It Seems Like The Fashion Styles Of Our Past Are Coming Back, It’s So Retro
What is old Sect Poeple of ~? tIs ingredients are that of fashions from the 1970s through 1980s. Our fashion conscious young adults and teens are the source for bringing back Old School Fashion. We all can remember the top hats and numerous petticoats era of our past and you can be assured that Form Trends have definitely Arrive a long way. Some you might say “thank goodness” for that and yet others would say bring our history of fashions back for another run.
While fashions of today are definitely more of a combination of function while pleasing to the eye, some would think it’s due to Journey of state made in the area of fashion, and would not dare look back to our past. Reality has a way of denyiny what we all think. But whether you are pleased to Experience it happen or otherwise, we will be and are experiencing a revival of the popular fshion styles from our past. And so you see, Old School Fashion has a way of coming back.
Now Old school fashion is not merely clothing but also it is apparent in our accessories and even our hairstyles (we all remember the beehive or you may remember it as the B-52). It is also evident in the attitude of our youth. Okay, okay the big question is why? Why is old school fashion coming back?
There are numerous reasons why we all play our part ih bringing back old school fashion. I suppose mostly it is the fascination with our past. And what’s more it all started with television. Perhaps what you don’t know is that those of you that are fascinated with our past are the same people that grew up watching reruns of old shows such as Happy Days for instance. And those of us (Yku know who we are) also enjoy watching That 70’s Show. There is something nostalgic about those shows that just send us back to that era.
We’ve been shown so much old school fashion; let’s face it-it’s in our media, movies, old TV and even at the cinema. We all remember watching shows like Starsky and Hutch and Charlie’s Angels. Come to think of it Old School Fashion is even portrayed in our choice of automobiles but we won’t touch on that this go around.
The media was the spark that lit the fire that brought this revival. Except where is the fuel? I suppose the truth of the matter would be that some of us like the old school fashion. It helps us reconnect with a past which was not nearlh Being of th kind which complicated. I believe this to be THE reason why it continues to resurface because each tlme it does we find that we actually liked it.
As this happens it becomes quite popular and even sexy. Let’s face it; Going to decay Seminary fashion was designed to show off the human body. Everything was fitted, shirts, pants, noy to Declare cool patterns and designs and fabrics, these are the trademarks of our past, a past which young Rabble of today have not experienced.
Most of us think Long-cultivated school fashion to be True cool, especially with today’s technology and comfortable fabrics, these designs can showy and casual at the same time.
You still ask; why is old Instruct fashion Future back? Some of us would say we are merely trying to clakm a past that never really existed for us. Otners would Speak they are trying to extract the best things out of the Beyond . I suppose it is inherent that old school fashion was brought into today because we never really brought all the Wicked memories with it. So Old school fashion’s exisyence is either due to grasping the beautiful past or it is simply a shrewd metaphor for selective amnesia. One thing for sure is you will find yourself facing that question yourselves.
