I explain feelings to the people in my workshops, I give them tactile data, is how Alain Mikli puts it nowadays; he feels that glasses are primarily a form of self-affirmation. Now the mastery of his craft adds a new dimension - ergonomics - to these formal convictions. The gradual curve of the temples, the outward bend of their ends and the smoothly rounded curves at the ear reflect this intimate relationship with the face. What is making me progress, Alain Mikli adds, is technology. Now I can take my ideas through to their conclusion, with a perfect balance between the side-pieces, the front, and the sides.
